Privacy policy

Sweet Dog is designed to collect the bare minimum. Here, in plain terms, is what we process, why, for how long, and the choices that are yours.

Data controller

The controller of your personal data is Sweet Dog (a SASU, Montpellier Trade and Companies Register B 931 919 765), 61 rue du Pont de Lavérune – Apt 64, 34070 Montpellier, France. For any question: contact@sweet-dog.app.

The data we collect

Sweet Dog is designed to collect the bare minimum. Depending on how you use it:

  • Your account (optional): your email address and a password, stored in hashed form: we never see it in clear text. No name, photo or phone number is requested.
  • Use without an account: so you can use the service without signing up, an anonymous identifier is assigned to your browser. It is not linked to any personal information.
  • Your dog's profile (optional): its name, age range and possibly its breed, if you choose to provide them for more relevant answers.
  • Your exchanges with the assistant: the questions you ask and the answers generated, grouped into conversations you can revisit, rename, archive or delete.
  • Your messages: if you write to us, the name you provide, your email address and the content of your message.

We collect no banking data and no sensitive data (health, opinions, etc.) beyond what you choose to write in your questions. To limit abuse, a non-reversible technical fingerprint of your IP address may be computed when you write to us; your IP address is never stored in clear text.

Why we process this data

  • To run the service you use (assistant, conversations, dog profile): based on performance of the service and our legitimate interest in offering a usable tool, including without sign-up.
  • To reply to your messages: based on your consent, when you use the contact form.
  • To secure the service and prevent abuse (IP fingerprint, rate limiting): based on our legitimate interest.
  • To improve answer quality: based on our legitimate interest, using minimised data.

We do no targeted advertising, no commercial profiling, and we never sell your data.

The assistant and artificial intelligence

The Sweet Dog assistant relies on an artificial-intelligence model provided by OpenAI. When you ask a question, the text of your question (and, where applicable, the dog profile you have entered) is sent to OpenAI to generate the answer. OpenAI acts as a processor: it handles this data on our behalf and, under its API, does not reuse it to train its models. As OpenAI is based in the United States, this transfer is framed (see below). As a precaution, avoid sharing with the assistant any information you would not want processed (highly personal data, credentials, third parties' details).

How long we keep it

  • Registered account: for as long as your account exists. You can delete it at any time: deletion erases your account and the associated data (conversations, dog profile).
  • Use without an account: your anonymous identity and associated data are automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity.
  • Conversations: kept while your account is active; you can delete them. The number of archived conversations is capped, with the oldest automatically removed.
  • Contact messages: kept for the time needed to handle and follow up your request, then deleted.
  • Backups: encrypted backups are kept for a limited rolling period, for security and recovery.

Who has access to your data

Your data is accessible to the Sweet Dog team and to a small number of technical providers acting on our behalf (processors under the GDPR), all bound by confidentiality commitments:

  • HostMe (France): hosting of the servers and database.
  • OpenAI (United States): the assistant's artificial-intelligence engine.
  • Brevo (France): sending our emails (password reset, message acknowledgement).

No resale, no sharing for advertising purposes.

Transfers outside the European Union

Our servers and most of our providers are located in France or the European Union. The artificial-intelligence engine (OpenAI) is located in the United States: this transfer is framed by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

Cookies

Sweet Dog only uses cookies strictly necessary for it to work (login, security, language). No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, no audience measurement. Details are in the Cookie Policy.

Security

We implement technical measures (HTTPS-encrypted exchanges, hashed passwords, signed anonymous identity, restricted access) and organisational measures to protect your data.

Your rights

You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability over your data. To learn how to exercise them easily, see the GDPR page or email us at contact@sweet-dog.app.
